While me and Danny were on the honeymoon we were talking about antenatal classes. I came across the NCT website https://www.nct.org.uk/courses/antenatal/signature-antenatal-course and found a class I could do in my area. The course consists of 7 session that lasts for 2 1/2 hours and cost us £211.
Now this sounded quite expensive to me but reading further in to what you get from the course and the materials they provide we thought it was worth it. I wanted peace of mind and a bit more knowledge about giving birth, labour, and what to expect afterwards, there was also a breastfeeding session which I thought was great as it’s something that I wanted to try. Plus we would get to meet couples who were due the same time as us (and have a cuppa and biccie too).
We went to our first class today and I didn’t know what to expect beforehand, some part of me felt like I was going to a hippy thing with incense burners, fairy lights and birthing balls with breathing techniques being shoved in my face. The other half of me felt like I was going to go to some sort of law-abiding class saying what you can and can’t do (oh my nerves are shot!)
Instead we were met by the lovely Zerin who was warm and welcoming and immediately made me feel calm and less nervous.
We introduced ourselves to everyone and immediately started chatting and finding out about each other.
The class was lovely, We both felt relaxed and comfortable, I am excited to go to the next one.
